When the resins are associated with volatile oils, contains the components like monoterpenoids, sesquiterpenonoids, and diterpenoids. The gums which are associated with resins are similar to acacia gum which sometimes possesses smaller quantities of oxidase enzymes. Resins can be of the physiological origin such as the secretions of the ducts. They can also be pathological products which are exuded through the incisions made on the plant.
