Synthesis


Uses: Used in bacillary dysentery and cholera.

Dose: Dose is 10–20 g per day in divided doses.

 

ii. Phthalyl Sulphathiazole (Thalazole)


Synthesis


Properties and uses: Slightly soluble in alcohol and ether, but insoluble in water. It is used in the treatment of acute bacillary dysentery, bowel irregularities, and ulcerative colitis.

Dose: Dose is 5–10 g per day in divided doses.
