The anticonvulsant activity increases with increased chain length.
SAR of Sodium Valproate The anticonvulsant activity increases with increased chain length. Introduction of a double bond decreases the activity. Introduction of a 2° or 3° alcohol group or replacement of carbonyl or hydroxyl have no effect.
