The upper
respiratory tract includes the nose, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and
pharynx. The lowerrespiratory
tract includes the larynx, trachea, and lungs. The
lungs contain the bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli.
FIGURE 21-1 shows the
structures of the respiratory system.
